Buzz the Goblin by Trollsngoblins Buzz the Goblin by Trollsngoblins
Finally, after weeks of jabbing myself in the finger, Buzz the Goblin is done.

Well... 'Done'. He still needs his pants, which are ordered from a child-clothing department for metal-head babies.

Buzz is 97 cm (38.2 inch) in height and wears clothes for a 4 year old child, and exists fully out of raw wool for his base figure and was colored with fine merino-wool, being fully needle-felted.
Yes, the eyes, too, were needlefelted.

He was modelled after the World of Warcraft goblin.
He's far from perfect, but I love him to bits.

-NOT FOR SALE-

Update: My first 1000+ views item! Jaaay : D \o/
Update: WHOOT! 100x Faved! :D THANK YOU FOLKS!

Aww, thanks! ^____________________^

I'm still trying to find a way to make (smaller, never gonna do something this big again xD) felted plushies, so I can offer adoptable goblins and other fantasy jiggamabobs.
Mostly males, I understand their anatomy better, but will try my hand at a li'll goblin girl too, maybe, sometime. ^^
It's a challenge xD

Haha, I can imagine how much work you had had to make a giant felt plush xD You are very brave, lol! I would love to see more goblin plushies! And if one day you make a female one, I would love to adopt her <3

I'm actually trying to figure out a way to draft my own patterns to sew them, instead of felting them.
I love felting, and it was a flash of bravery when I made Buzz, but seeing how much time it took, and that they pill very fast once they get cuddled, I think it's better to learn and actually make plush animals.

I'm trying to see if I can turn 2D to 3D, and 3D to patterns :P
Talking about brave, I just put myself on that shelf of brave people (especially since I know fudge-all about 3D NOR pattern drawing xD).

About 4 weeks total, of 1-4 hours a day ^^
He's got one major flaw in his anatomy... which I only found out when I fully assembled the base figure.

Once assembled I noticed... he literally has two left feet >_> xD

Thank you! I kept adjusting the nose. At first it was like a snowman carrotnose. When he got some nostrils, it allready looked better.
When finally I figured out it needed a bump........ everything worked out! ^^

Would love to, but 'someday' sounds good. I'm still practicing, and have a lot of 'Still have to be done' projects, ranging from more needlefelted critters and tryouts, to costumes and even a deco-carved, foldable viking bed (the real deal xD).

BUT... I'm deffo interrested ^^

Yeah, someday for me too. Living in a dorm right now, getting my butt beat by classes. Next year or over the summer would be much better.

I'm still practicing, but I promised myself never to do one as big as Buzz anymore.
He was really a handful. So maybe a tad smaller, when practiced a bit more :)

I'm also trying to perfect the materials used.
Buzz is quite heavy to haul around, being made of 100% raw wool.
I'm experimenting with foam for the body, which possibly makes them even cuddlier, squishier and more huggleable.

I don't doubt I can make a Hoggle.
I just honestly say I don't feel ready and good enough for commissions yet :)

However... maybe KAY PETAL can help you from :iconfeltalive:.
She's the Guru of needlefelting.

I take stuffing wool for the body (it can be needlefelted very well) and then give it a wool-skin...

Stuffing wool? I heard of cottonbatter used in teddies and plushies sometimes being (magically) needlefelted, but 'Stuffing wool' I'll have to look up.
Thanks for the heads up :D

That looks brilliant! Cotton wool!
And you say that felts well?

Would open new doors to people allergic to sheep's wool if this stuff is feltable and self-dyable!
Thanks for this :D :D :D

yes it felts well but of course it doesnt' look very good. :D Because it's jut white and also not really soft.
I only use it as body and then cover it with colored Merino Wool.

Ah well, that wouldn't work then. I'm always trying to find a plantbased, (needle)feltable fibre.
I have friends I'd love to make things for (ranging from plushies to dreadlocks), but they, so far, proved to be very allergic to most common wools.

Thanks! ^^

Needlefelting is literally done with raw, loose wool, and a barbed needle being jutted in repeatedly. Due to the barbs in the needle, the scales and lanoline of the fibres get tangled into felt.
So... poor goblin.. he got stabbed with a needle about a 10000000000000 times or so *Chuckle*
Imagine the "Sorry sorry sorry!" my brain went through, when I was shaping his behind.
Nobody likes to be poked with a needle in his bum. :P

Ah! I understand. Thank you very much for explaining it to me =)
I think you need a lot of talent to create a face (one with a good expression) with this technique!
I crochet me dolls and if I sew on their legs and pierce through their butt, I feel sorry for the poor doll too :giggle:

And he just smiles and finds it okay, sort to say ;)
